Company Profile

Ross Farm Machinery

Ross Farm Machinery Ltd (RFM) is a privately owned agricultural dealership whose three owners are actively involved in the business and also live within the area in which we trade.

RFM was formed in 1991 by Russell Brett, Tony Dudfield and Andrew Stuffins. Prior to RFM all three of the founding owners worked in the agricultural machinery industry. RFM quickly became one of the UK's largest Case-IH agri dealers with locations at Ross on Wye, Fosse Cross and Raglan, later expanding to include Martley. During 2005, the merger between Case-IH and NH took its toll on RFM and led to the most difficult choice RFM have had to make. RFM were approached by AGCO to sell Massey Ferguson and Fendt products at our Ross on Wye, Raglan and Martley depots (but not Fosse Cross). Although we had had many successful years with Case-IH we decided to bring about a seismic change to our business.

We could clearly see that a brighter future for the company lay ahead with AGCO, and reluctantly decided to sell our Fosse Cross business to facilitate the changeover. Massey Ferguson and Fendt products, although owned by the same parent, are totally different tractors. This allows us to offer a choice of mainstream or premium to our customers. There is no other manufacturer that provides this choice.

Since the change in tractor franchise in January 2006, we have become firmly established with MF and Fendt, enabling us to offer a product portfolio which is made up of the very best in quality agricultural products - MF, JCB, Fendt, Kuhn, McHale, Great Plains - a strategic wish fulfilled. This line up of products has enabled RFM to takes their sales turnover above £27 million. Our ambition for the future is to continue to grow with our product range by offering the best after-sales service in the region.

In June 2012 Tony Dudfield retired and his stake in the business was acquired by Paddy Kennedy. We remain grateful to Tony for his contribution to RFM. and still see him regularly as he is now working contentedly with his daughter and her husband on their local farm/contracting business. As part of RFM's succession plan, from February 2014 Andrew Stuffins has begun to take more of a 'back seat'. Whilst retaining his share in the business, and remaining actively involved as a director and company secretary, he has passed the bulk of his responsibilities to his son Mike, who having joined RFM in 2007 has now taken on the role of Finance Director.
